FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - North Side head coach, Mike Brevard resigns after a 5-6 season, which ended in the second round of sectionals.
Brevard says he could not pass up the opportunity that came his way.
He will join the University of Saint Francis coaching staff, as the linebackers coach and will be the multicultural enrollment counselor.
"We were talking about the culture in our society right now and the inclusion of minorities, within the society. One thing the university has recognized that that's an issue on their campus they're trying to fix," Brevard said.
"I'm in a position at Saint Francis to recruit minorities," he said. "To help retain them and foster those relationships there."
Brevard feels he will be doing some of the same stuff at USF, as he did at North Side.
While he explains leaving the kids at North Side is tough, he feels accomplished with the time he spent with the students and athletes.
"I always said I wanted to turn boys to men and men to leaders, I feel we have accomplished that goal."
Brevard is a native of Indianapolis and played college football at Saint Francis.
