ISDH: 6,983 new COVID-19 cases, 40 additional deaths reported

INDIANAPOLIS (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — A total of 289,183 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the daily update by the Indiana State Department of Health.

6,983 new cases of the virus were reported to ISDH on Saturday.

40 additional Hoosiers have lost their lives to COVID-19, officials say. The overall death toll now stands at 4,992.

The new data was reported to ISDH within the last 24 hours, but the new cases occurred between Nov. 12 and Nov. 20 while the new deaths occurred between Nov. 16 and Nov. 20.

Officials say to date, 2,053,143 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,030,938 on Friday. A total of 3,846,380 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

The state's seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals is at 23.5%.

An estimated total of 163,741 Indiana residents have recovered from the virus, according to data from the Regenstrief Institute.

Another 254 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.
