UPDATE: US 24 crash leaves one woman dead and a man injured


At approximately 2:10 p.m., police responded to US 24, west of Bull Rapids for a crash involving a semi and a passenger car.

Upon arrival, police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of the passenger car crossed the center median on US 24 and struck the semi head-on.

According to authorities on scene, the driver, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi received minor injuries.

At this time, US 24 westbound and eastbound lanes are closed, but the westbound lanes should open right around 4:30 p.m.

This crash remains under investigation.


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - On Friday afternoon, authorities are responding to a serious crash on US 24.

Officers received calls around 2:11 p.m. about a crash on US 24 new S.R. 101.

Eastbound US 24 is shut down at Webster Road as well as westbound US 24 at S.R. 101 for the time being while crews clean up the scene and investigate.
