Man shot by Fort Wayne police behind bars facing formal charges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- A Fort Wayne man, shot by police after they said he shot at officers in a hotel parking lot, is out of the hospital and behind bars facing attempted murder and several other serious charges.

Paramedics rushed 43-year-old Lance Morningstar to the hospital in critical condition the afternoon of October 5.

Wednesday evening, Fort Wayne police arrested Morningstar after he was released from the hospital.

Morningstar faces nine charges including attempted murder, dealing, resisting law enforcement, possession of a handgun without a license and criminal recklessness.

He'll be in court Thursday morning on those charges.

Morningstar is also scheduled for a court appearance on October 23 for an outstanding warrant involving a probation violation.
