FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Fort Wayne Police Department has made an arrest following a standoff near the intersection of Cook and Coldwater Roads.

FWPD's Public Information Officer Sofia Rosales-Scatena said they were called to a home in the 700 block of Valdosta Drive around 8:47 Tuesday morning on reports of domestic battery between a father and son.

The son was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say a gun was recovered at the scene but they did not specify how it was involved.

The father, 51-year-old Kenneth Lawless, surrendered after police sprayed a chemical agent into the home following several verbal attempts to have him exit, according to police.

Nearby schools Shawnee Middle and Lincoln Elementary were placed on lockout during the standoff but the lockout has been lifted.

Lawless is facing a premilinary felony charge of domestic battery.
