CORONER: 19-year-old killed in Rodeway Inn shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Allen County Coroner's Office has identified the victim in Sunday's fatal shooting as a 19-year-old woman.

The coroner says Angel May Carter, 19, was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning at Rodeway Inn at 2920 Goshen Road.

Carter's death marks the 29th homicide in Allen County so far this year, officials say.

On Sunday, police say they received a tip of a woman bleeding and lying on the ground outside of a room at Rodeway Inn. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives then received information on a person of interest, 40-year-old Thomas Jermaine Jackson, who was possibly inside the adjacent room at the time of the shooting.

Thomas Jermaine Jackson, 40, male/black, 5'8 165 lbs.

Police say they searched the room but found nothing of note.

Detectives say they are still searching for Jackson, who is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867.
