FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - Longtime Homestead Head Coach, Rod Parker, walks into Parkview Field only to be surprised to have dinner with past players, family and friends.

Parker completed his 19th year of coaching in 2019.

Former player, Karissa McLaughlin shares some thoughts.

"He knew what our goals were, so he always made sure he held us to the level we needed to maintain to reach those goals," McLaughlin said.

"Great kids, hard working individuals from all different talent levels, but they've always bought in to the team concept that we have at Homestead. It's been really neat watching their careers develop," Parker said.

Parker left the sideline in 2019 to battle cancer. He overcame the health battle and returned later in the season.
