Single-motorcycle crash leaves one person dead Saturday evening

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - A single-motorcycle crash left one person dead Saturday evening.

Around 5:55 p.m., officers with the Huntington County Sheriff's Department said a driver of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on US 24 East (west of Meridian Road in Huntington Twp., Huntington County).

They said the driver was unable to handle a curve in the road while speeding. Officials said the driver drove off the roadway and over a small creek before overturning. Police said the driver was thrown off the motorcycle.

Officers said paramedics took the driver to Lutheran Hospital where he later died.

Police said they believe the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
