Investigators are putting together the pieces to an early morning shooting that left one man in life-threatening condition

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that left one male with life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning.

At approximately 4:22 a.m., police were called to the area of Plaza Drive and Pettit Avenue where they heard several gunshots coming from the area.

Officers say after a short time later, police observed a vehicle that had crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle near the designated intersection.

According to police, an adult male got out to the vehicle that had crashed into a parked car. The victim fell immediately to the ground.

Officers say the victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

After a short time later, paramedics arrived at the scene and provided medical attention to the victim before transporting him to a local hospital in serious condition.

Upon arrival, authorities say the victim had life-threatening injuries.

At this time, investigators are canvassing the neighborhood to see if anyone may have witnessed the incident that could assist investigators with their investigation.

According to police, there is no suspect information and no arrests have been made. 

Investigators are asking for anyone who may have information that could assist them with their investigation to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department Detective Bureau at 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP.
