FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - Chris Spurr is now the newest member of the Allen County Council.

Late June, former Allen County Councilman Larry Brown resigned after making controversial comments.

Since then, three Republican candidates, Emery McClendon, Elizabeth Underwood, and Chris Spurr ran to replace Brown, and have a seat at the table.

On Monday evening, 18 precinct members along with the candidates met at the Allen County Republican Headquarters in downtown Fort Wayne.

After the precinct members voted, results showed each candidate received six votes.

In order to break the tie, the 18 precinct members voted again.

After another round of voting, results showed Underwood received seven votes, Spurr received six votes, and McClendon received five votes.

The precinct members then voted again between Spurr and Underwood to determine who would be the newest member of County Council.

After precinct members voted again, Republican Chairman Steven Shine announced Spurr received 11 votes, and Underwood received seven votes.
