Barriers installed on Clinton Street sidewalk following days of protests

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - The City of Fort Wayne has installed orange barriers along the sidewalk where protesters have gathered outside the Allen County Courthouse.

A spokesman for the Fort Wayne Mayor's office said these were installed as a safety measure at the request of Fort Wayne Police Cheif Steve Reed.

"There have been unsubstantiated threats that a vehicle(s) would possibly drive through the courthouse area. The Chief wants to keep protesters and motorists safe," spokesman John Perlich said in an emailed statement.

This comes after five days of protests in that area.
