FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - Former Canterbury and Belmont basketball star, Darby Maggard began her professional basketball career in Ireland.
She averaged 15 points and five assists in a dozen games, before contract issues moved her to a new country.
Maggard made her way to Adelaide, Australia.
She loved it, until the COVID-19 outbreak stopped the competition.
"I loved it there. Australia was an amazing place, it was beautiful. I thought the style of play and just the way their league worked, suited me better," she said.
"The league was a little bit more professional. We practiced more times a week, it just was a little bit more my work ethic, my style.
Maggard is back home now, training with Always 100's Vernand Hollins.
She waits to continue her professional basketball career, before eventually fulfilling a dream of coaching.
