Former Homestead Spartans star quarterback Jiya Wright enters the NCAA Transfer Portal for the second time, after his current school Florida Tech closed down its football program, due to funding losses from COVID-19.
Back in 2017, Wright was one of the most electric play-makers in the state of Indiana.
Wright enrolled at Northern Illinois University the following year in 2018 but eventually decided to transfer, yet continue his dreams of playing quarterback at the collegiate level.
It didn't take long for Wright to fall in love with the program at Florida Tech, a place that also carried a degree in his passion of aviation (Aviation Management, B.S.)
Wright not only wanted to direct an air-raid on offense, but pilot a commercial airplane when his collegiate career, eventually, comes to a close.
The fit seemed perfect, but after a year with the Panthers, Florida Tech coaches told their players Monday morning that they'd be ceasing all football operations.
