MANHATTAN (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- Ryan Middleton grew up in Garrett, Indiana and graduated from Garrett High School.
He's now living in Manhattan with his partner, Kate.
Middleton works in television, and Sunday night, the two participated in what's become a nightly 7 o'clock ritual in that borough of New York City.
People who live there go out on their balconies or porches and applaud health care workers coming home from or going to their shifts.
Sunday night's applause lasted several minutes, an overall tribute to the spirit that can be found in what many consider the epicenter of the COVID-19 crisis in America.
Evening anchor Linda Jackson learned about the story from a friend in Fort Wayne who happens to be Middleton's cousin.
She sent the video to Linda.
