FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - Social distancing is key if we want to slow the spread of COVID-19.
However, many of us are not used to staying at home for long periods of time.
It can get lonely if you don't take steps to connect with others.
Fort Wayne's NBC Today anchor Julian Teekaram spoke with clinical psychologist Courtney Washington over the phone.
She says using the technology at your disposal like Skype and Facetime can provide you with the human interaction you crave.
Washington says it's also a good idea to pick a different person from your phone contact list everyday and call them.
As for keeping up your mental health, exercise and sticking to a routine is paramount.
"So make sure you're getting out of bed at a certain time, taking care of your hygiene, eating regularly and getting in some physical activity," said Washington.
