FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - As you probably have noticed, Tom Powell and Linda Jackson are switching off duties in the studio as part of our newsroom efforts to social distance at Television Park. While one anchor is in the studio the other will bring you stories from home. We're calling them "Stories to Share." They're little slices of life that are helping us get through these tough times.
In Tuesday's "Stories to Share" Tom talks to his Aunty Patty Sheehy about a wedding she recently attended. "The couple picked March 21st for their wedding and as we all know our world really changed. But they really had their hopes set on the day 3-21. A friend became ordained online and he decided their dream was going to come true and they were going to do it that day," Patty tells Tom.
She's talking about her niece Elizabeth's wedding from just this past weekend.
"The family was really sad not being a part of it, until they did it on 'Zoom.' People from all across the United States as well as Canada joined them for their very special day," she says. "It was in their living room. My niece and her sister came out of the bathroom holding hands. They walked to the living room. There was the groom Tony as well as Mike who did the officiating."
Patty says the ceremony was beautiful. "You really felt like you were part of it," she says. "I told them whatever their future holds they will have a story to tell. We've made history through this."
The couple plans to throw a big party and another ceremony down the road once the stay-at-home restrictions have been lifted. They hope to bring everyone together again… only this time… in person.
