20 FWCS bus drivers call-out Friday morning, resulting in delays

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - Fort Wayne Community School bus routes are running late Friday morning due to numerous bus drivers calling out sick.

According to FWCS spokesperson Krista Stockman, 20 bus drivers called out Friday morning, many of which due to illness.

Because of a shortage of bus drivers, many bus routes will be running late today. We are doing our best to keep the late bus status page up-to-date, but please be patient. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Stockman says these additional shortages place FWCS at least 70 drivers short for Friday morning.

Via a Facebook post, FWCS says they are doing their best to keep the late bus status page up-to-date. They are working to notify parents impacted by the delayed routes.

Stockman suggests parents pick up their children directly after school to minimize delays.

The additional bus driver shortages come a day after FWCS canceled most events and all field trips until further notice in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
