FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Monday, the Fort Wayne TinCaps announced an extension of protective netting from the first and third baselines, towards the outfield.
The netting serves to increase fan safety at TinCaps games this season and is expected to be implemented in time for Opening Day.
The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission approved the netting as part of a package of Parkview Field upgrades.
In recent years, major and minor league stadiums have increased the attention of protective netting extensions. The move allows renewed attention to keeping fans safe from foul balls and sheared-off bats that can cause serious injury,
Nets at Parkview Field were extended four years ago.
