Police seeking help locating man wanted for animal cruelty

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — UPDATE: Police say Burkhart has been located in the Whitley County Jail where he is being held on local charges.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is looking for the public’s help locating a man wanted on animal cruelty charges.

Police say they are searching for 30-year-old Shawn Burkhart, who has active warrants out of Grant County for animal cruelty, killing a domestic animal, cruelty to an animal, and possession of a firearm by domestic batterer. 

Burkhart is described by police as being about 5’11” tall and weighs around 170 pounds.

Crime Stoppers say they pay up to a $1,000 cash reward for information that results in the arrest or indictment of persons who commit felony crimes.
