Mother facing neglect charges in infant son’s death

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — A Fort Wayne woman is facing neglect charges after police say her baby died after suffering severe head injuries.

Police say 30-year-old Jasmine Johnson brought her unresponsive 5-month-old son to the hospital Sunday morning. Doctors said the baby had severe bruising and head trauma, and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The doctor told officers the baby had what appeared to be traumatic head injuries pointing to dents in the baby’s skull.

When police interviewed Johnson, she admitted to drinking all night with another person and woke up alone with her child on the floor.

Johnson was arrested and is facing charges of neglect of a dependent.
