Member of Ivy Tech baseball team dies from injuries in car wreck

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Andrew Carpenter has died from injuries he sustained in a car crash earlier this month.

The team’s assistant coach shared the somber news via social media late Tuesday afternoon.

Carpenter and another member of the team were hurt on Oct. 19 in a two-vehicle collision. The crash caused Carpenter’s brain to swell and bleed, and complications followed.

He had been placed into a medically induced coma.

Carpenter was a sophomore at Ivy Tech, where he pitched for the Titans this past season. He was a graduate of Lakewood Park Christian School in DeKalb County.

A GoFundMe account was established to help Carpenter’s family with related expenses.
