Ex-North Side High School employee pleads guilty to child solicitation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) —  A former Fort Wayne Community Schools employee has plead guilty after prosecutors say he sent a nude photo to a student under his care and solicited sex from her.

Fort Wayne’s NBC previously reported that Devin Gilliam, 28, was facing child solicitation and dissemination of matter harmful to children charges stemming from a report that he sent inappropriate messages to a student at North Side High School back in 2018.

At the time of the allegations, he was a special education assistant.

Gilliam’s employment with FWCS was terminated on Aug. 22, 2018, according to FWCS Public Information Officer Krista Stockman. She said police were called to investigate as soon as they were made aware of the misconduct.

On Monday, Gilliam plead guilty to child solicitation, a Level 5 Felony.

The judge still has to accept the plea deal, and his sentencing is set for October 25.
