FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — A Fort Wayne girl and her parents served as guests of honor at the annual Northeast Indiana Riley luncheon held Thursday at Ceruti’s on Innovation Boulevard.
Eleven-year-old Maddie Dean was diagnosed at age 3 with a serious disease that weakens her muscles and skin.
She received life-saving treatment at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis where thousands of families from northeast Indiana visit every year.
Maddie talked about creating pieces of art and selling them to raise money for Riley as the Riley Foundation continues the “Be the Hope Now” campaign.
Also at the luncheon, 3 area children were named Riley Champions for 2020 which means they will serve as ambassadors the next year, raising awareness and money about the hospital in Indianapolis that now has a clinic in Fort Wayne.
Fort Wayne’s NBC evening anchor, Linda Jackson, attended the luncheon and filed this report.
