Ohio police searching for masked bank bandit

OAKWOOD, Ohio (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – The Paulding County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a masked bandit held up a bank Wednesday morning.

Just after 9 a.m., deputies were called out to State Bank at 218 North First Street in Oakwood, Ohio in regards to a bank robbery.

Police say a man walked into the bank with a mask, dark pants, a light-hooded jacket, a ball cap, and black gloves.

The suspect was carrying a blue bag, and he demanded cash at the counter.

Once he got what he came for, the man may have taken off in a white  2000’s model Chevy cargo style van. The van had black rims and has paint chipping away from the top.

It could have an Indiana registration on the back.

Investigators said no customers were inside the bank at the time, and none of the tellers were hurt.

Police said the suspect may have had a weapon, but he didn’t pull it out during the robbery.

“My investigators are following some leads right now. They are working with multiple agencies. I am glad no one was hurt as a result of this senseless crime,” said Sheriff Jason K. Landers.

“If any has information related to this crime, please call us.”

Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigators working alongside the Oakwood Police Department.

The FBI is involved as well.
