DOCS: Former YMCA lifeguard facing child porn charges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — A warrant has recently been issued for a man who police say viewed child pornography while working at a local YMCA.

Court documents say 27-year-old Isaac W. Lengacher was working as a lifeguard and swim instructor at a Fort Wayne YMCA when police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about him.

Police said that on February 18, employees at the YMCA submitted a tip saying they found images of child pornography on a company computer on Feb. 15.

The employees allegedly told police that the images were opened on Lengacher’s email account.

Police say they immediately notified the YMCA Senior District Executive Director, and Lengacher was fired immediately. Lengacher’s Facebook page shows he worked at the Parvkiew Family YMCA on Dawsons Creek Boulevard.

According to the YMCA CEO Marty Pastura, Lengacher worked at the YMCA for about two years and underwent the same vetting process and background checks that are required for all employees.

Pastura said he believed it was an isolated incident and there have been no other reports reports regarding inappropriate behavior.

Pastura confirmed YMCA members were not notified the incident happened.

A mother we talked to was furious that she wasn’t.

“I was like, oh no! I’ve seen him there around my daughter. At my daughter’s age level swim classes, they’re very hands on with the kids, and it just kind of made my stomach hurt a little bit as soon as I saw his picture. And then my mind started racing and I started to get a little bit angrier that I had never been told about it. For a place that’s supposed to be Christian-oriented and all about family, I think that we just deserve to know what had happened,” concerned mother Alyssa Bowers says.

Lengacher was also involved in the Civic Theatre in Fort Wayne. Most recently, he was cast as a supporting character, Boris, in their production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Two actors in the production confirmed with Fort Wayne’s NBC that he has been removed from the show.

A warrant was issued for Lengacher’s arrest on Thursday, Aug. 8.
