FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Old Fort in downtown Fort Wayne will be the site of a cleanup, beginning Saturday morning.
Officials with the tourist attraction tell Fort Wayne’s NBC News they discovered vandalism in the form of a spray-painted message that read “No Pride in Native Genocide” on the south-facing exterior facade on both sides of the gate at the property.
They say the crime likely took place during the morning hours of Friday.
Leaders with the Parks Department were notified, and a police report was submitted.
Crews plan to conduct soda blasting which they say will cause little damage while removing the paint.
They say their plan is to get the cleanup work done Saturday.
