Two-A-Days: Concordia QB Competition and Returning Running Back Power

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE’S NBC) – Concordia brings back just seven seniors for the upcoming football season.

Sophomores and juniors will be doing the heavy lifting this time around, two of which are in a quarterback competition for the starting job.

Brandon Davis, former wide receiver, is leading the battle so far against Jackson Valentine.

“He’s definitely a play maker for us. He can run outside the pocket and be a duel threat,” wide receiver, Jalen Vanderbosch said. “He’s definitely been able to grow in the off season.”

Whether it be Davis or Valentine, running back, Amir Drew, returns to the backfield with experience.

Drew rushed for 1,000 yards last year and could now add more of punch.

“Already this summer, you can tell he looks a lot more experienced. He’s running harder, more physically, kind of bursting through the hole a little bit. He’s not quite as tentative, so all of that should lead to an exciting year for him too,” Head Coach, Jim Mannigel said.

Concordia meet South Side for the first game of their year.
