Mayor taps McCracken as New Haven police chief

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A longtime member of the New Haven Police Department will be its new chief, the mayor announced on Thursday.

Mayor Terry McDonald said Jeffrey McCracken, a detective who joined the force in 2006, will succeed Chief Henry McKinnon, who retired last week.

McCracken has risen through the ranks of the department, serving as a patrol officer, detective and internal affairs investigator, among other positions.

He has received meritorious honors for his work — from the New Haven Police Department and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

McCracken begins his tenure as chief on July 21.
