Fort Wayne’s favorite NFL rookie, Drue Tranquill, will be back home Saturday night, serving as keynote speaker for the Charger 300 Football Fundraiser, at Autumn Ridge Country Club.
The Carroll Charger turned Los Angeles Charger makes the cross-country trip to motivate, sharing his story and advice on getting the very best from yourself.
The 23-year-old began the website druetranquillspeaks.com in May of this year, inspired to “empower others beyond the white lines.”
“Our kids know his name and have seen him play in college, but haven’t had the opportunity see him live, and talk to him and embrace his message,” Carroll football head coach Doug Dinan said Tuesday morning.
“It’s not only about being a good football player and being able to play the game on the field to your highest level, which he can and he does, but it’s more about the character of the individual and the adversity that he’s been through and, again, be able to give back.”
The 23rd two-time captain in Notre Dame history, Tranquill fought through two separate ACL tears (each knee) to become the 130th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
There will be both silent and live auctions to go with lottery pricing for tickets at the door.
The proceeds will be going to the Carroll Chargers football program, a cause easy for Tranquill to get behind.
To RSVP, contact Coach Dinan via Twitter (@Carroll_HS_FB), or call Coach Scott Mitchell at (260)409-2367.
