Friendship Goals: Two Paralympic Athletes build special bond through Goalball

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE’S NBC) – The USA Women’s Goalball team is anchored by two veteran players, Lisa Czechowski and Asya Miller.

The duo has traveled to five straight Paralympic games together, and won a gold medal in Beijing.

Through their success and travels, Czechowski and Miller built a strong bond.

“A lot cards were in the right place and we were able to bond. As we got older, again some of the same life things happening,” Czechowski said. “Like getting married, having children.”

Their friendship is so strong, the two women have sons born on the same day, three years apart.

“It was just a highlight of that day and turned the whole day around. We ended up winning that World Championships, and that made it all better,” Miller said.

“That more even solidifies our bond that’s just us,” Czechowski said.
