POLICE: Mother, good Samaritans thwart would-be baby snatcher

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A 45-year-old man is accused of trying to grab a baby out of her mother’s arms in a medical waiting room last week.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the mother was in the waiting room at Parkview Carew Medical Park when she says a man walked up to her, grabbed her baby girl, and tried to rip the child out of her arms.

She said she started to scream and started kicking him to get him to let go.

Two good samaritans then grabbed him and pulled him off of her.

When police showed up to the waiting room, an officer approached the man later identified as Scott Russell.

He apparently told the officer “I am very upset with the world, and hurting a baby was the easiest way to hurt someone.”

Russell is now facing battery and attempts kidnapping charges from the ordeal.

Russell posted bond and is out of custody, according to online court records.
