Spacemen name Komets great Schrock head coach

The Fort Wayne Spacemen have found their commander.

Fort Wayne native Kaleigh Schrock spent six season playing with the Fort Wayne Komets, winning the Turner Cup and the President’s Cup.

His playing days preceded a coaching career that saw Schrock lead the Summit City Panthers to a 1-A State Title in 2018.

Schrock also serves as Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Fort Wayne Amateur Hockey Association.

Now, he goes to the Premier Hockey League to teach up some of the best 17 to 21-year-olds, from around the region.

“You know we really want to be a trampoline to get kids to the next step,” Schrock after being hired Wednesday afternoon.

“It’s about getting you better and moving you on from here.”

Schrock is happy to stay in the Fort, continuing to develop talent, now on an even bigger stage.
