TinCaps middle infielder Xavier Edwards made his presence felt early at Four Winds Field in the 2019 Midwest League All-Star Game, opening up play with a base-hit to shallow center and, then, swiping second base.
“I’m here in South Bend playing the game that I love,” Edwards said after being taken out in the second half of Tuesday night’s All-Star game.
Edwards solid with the glove as well, turning a double-play in the fifth inning of a tightly contested ball-game between the East and West squad.
Tied 3-3 into the ninth inning of play, TinCaps reliever Henry Henry was called in to shut the door on the West, delivering a regulation-ending punch-out.
The East would go on to win a Home Run Derby tie-breaker.
TinCaps ace Ryan Weathers was unable to pitch as an All-Star, due to usage availability.
