FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — An overnight stabbing sent a man to the hospital in critical condition Thursday.
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2700 block of Sterling Street around 1:06 Thursday morning. When police arrived, they found a man outside the home, appearing to have been stabbed.
The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Police say he has been upgraded and is now “stable.”
We asked police to clarify what they mean by “stable.” They could only tell us that was what the hospital told them and the condition lies somewhere between good and critical. Police say the hospital did not tell them the victim is in good condition at this time.
Police began a preliminary investigation and were able to determine some sort of altercation took place, leading the man to be stabbed. They are still trying to piece together the details, including where the stabbing actually took place, who the suspects are and what led to the incident.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is being asked to call the police department.
