FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A Fort Wayne clinic offered free dental services to help hundreds of patients in need.
The Indiana Mission of Mercy (MoM) hosted its third annual free dental care clinic. This year was the first time the organization hosted the event in Fort Wayne.
Since Friday morning, event coordinators said more than a thousand patients attended and tried their services.
From cleaning, x-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals to partial dentures, hundreds of professional volunteers served patients across the city for free.
“I couldn’t believe it was free when I first heard about it,” Ralph Henry, a patient said.
Event coordinators said the goal of the event was to help folks in need and to raise awareness of the importance of dental health.
“That’s just part of what we do is to give back,” said Tom Blake, Co-Chair of Indiana MoM 2019. “We’ve been given so much so we want to give back to the community.”
Many patients at the event said they loved their new brighter teeth and smile.
“I love it,” Henry said. “I don’t have to cover my mouth anymore. I can open wide now and say hey, I’m there.”
The event ended on Saturday at 6 P.M.
