FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps on Wednesday said they would put two “peanut-free” dates on its calendar this summer.
Peanuts will not be served at Parkview Field on Friday, June 14, and on Wednesday, July 17.
It’s not the first time the team has taken such a step. Peanut-free games have become an annual staple at the downtown stadium.
“We understand that some of our fans have peanut allergies that prevent them from being able to enjoy the fun of a TinCaps game on a regular basis,” said TinCaps President Mike Nutter “This is an effort on our part to be inclusive and serve as many fans as we can.”
Peanut-free dates are scheduled at the beginning of a homestand. While the team is away, the ballpark is thoroughly cleaned to eliminate any peanut residue.
The June 14 game against the Lake County Captains is also a Boy Scout Overnight date and Pro Wrestling Night, and will feature postgame fireworks.
The July 17 game against the Peoria Chiefs is a Bourbon Tasting Night for fans who purchase a special ticket in advance.
Tickets to the peanut-free games are available by calling 260-482-6400 or by logging on to TinCapsTickets.com. They are also sold at the Parkview Field ticket office.
