Indiana State Police remembering fallen officer 20 years later

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – 20 Years ago on Wednesday, Indiana State Police Trooper Cory Elson was gunned down during a traffic stop.

On April 3, 1999, Trooper Elson stopped a pickup truck on US 27 in Decatur and was met with a hailstorm of bullets.

Mark Lichtenberger used a fully automatic assault rifle and fired at least 36 rounds.

Elson died from his wounds.
