PFW students serve up Swiss cuisine in new restaurant enterprise

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Purdue University Fort Wayne’s hospitality program is bringing a taste of Switzerland to northeast Indiana with the opening of this semester’s student-run restaurant.

“Edelweiss” is the new temporary restaurant at the Holiday Inn located at 4111 Paul Shaffer Drive. It will be open each Thursday through April 25 (with the exception of March 7), serving the public.

Each semester, the theme and menu changes for the 100-percent student-operated Thursdays-only PFW enterprise (the restaurant is a traditional hotel eatery the rest of the week).

“This semester, our hospitality management students have developed and will operate a concept restaurant close to my heart,” said John Niser, chair of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management. “Being originally a Swiss citizen, I love the country and its multicultural food heritage.”

Students are responsible for management of the restaurant and marketing it through social media.

Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended and can be made by emailing or calling 260-627-9153.
