Police dashcam video shows woman chugging a beer during arrest

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – The woman who police say was drunk behind the wheel and led them on a chase last week also chugged a beer as deputies were trying to handcuff her.

NBC affiliate WBIR says this all began when driver Julia Myers turned out of a housing addition without using her turn signal on Jan. 21.

That’s when Myers led officers on a chase. A Blount County Sheriff’s Department Police report obtained by WBIR says she tried to ram two deputies with her car, and hit a stop sign in the process.

Eventually, Myers stopped the car.

Dashcam video from the Blount County Sherif’s Office shows the woman and passengers get out of the car at gunpoint.

In the video, you can see Myers get out of the car with a beer in her hand. As the officer approaches her, she takes a big swig.

WBIR reports that at the hospital, Myers allegedly admitted to drinking and driving.

Myers also told officers that she drank “an entire fifth of liquor,” and that’s when she switched to beer, according to WBIR.

The woman now faces DUI, reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest and public intoxication charges.
