ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A travel advisory has been issued for Allen County.
The Allen County Office of Homeland Security cites continuous snowfall and winds that are creating hazardous travel conditions throughout the area.
A Travel Advisory is the lowest level of the travel advisory. That means routine activities may be restricted in certain areas.
In Noble County, officials issued a “Watch” Travel Advisory until further notice. Drifting snow, especially on East-West roads are making travel difficult and potentially hazardous.
A “Watch” travel Advisory means that only essential travel is recommended.
A winter storm warning is in effect from 4 am through 7 pm Saturday. The system is expected to dump 4-6 inches of snow across Fort Wayne Saturday.
The National Weather Service says A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, they say to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
If you are out on the roads, you can check their conditions on the Indiana Department of Transportation website.
Drivers should be cautious while out on the road.
