Fort Wayne, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Snow causes issues on the roads, but it can also cause trouble right outside the door. Fort Wayne’s NBC Meteorologist Jon Wilson talked with a member of an organization that helps those who need it when it comes to snow removal at home.
NeighborLink is a Christian organization that strives to provide practical, neighbor-to-neighbor expressions of God’s love.
The group, based in Fort Wayne is totally volunteer-based. They help people who have their own issues. Whether it be a disability or other bad circumstance, NeighborLink hopes to help others it serves. One way they do this is by shoveling out driveways and sidewalks for those who need it.
“We’re all one circumstance away from being in need, so when you show up and you’re there for somebody when they’re experiencing dark times, as a volunteer, it’s extremely moving. You’re apart of that person’s story, and it sticks with you, it’s just really something. There’s so many things that people want to do to create change, and that’s something you can do with just a little bit of your time,” says Volunteer Lyndsy Porter.
NeighborLink also says that since this is a volunteer service that you are not guaranteed to have someone to help, but they do their best. They also encourage volunteers to join. If you’re in need of a service like snow removal, you can call 209-0074. You can also contact them at neighborlinkfortwayne.org.
