Teenage driver charged in deadly crash

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A teenage driver is facing charges in an accident that left a Heritage High School student dead and five others hurt.

18-year-old Na Lay is facing five counts of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon.

Lay was booked into the Allen County Jail on Dec. 27, and online court records show he was released on Dec. 28.

Ar Zi Za La, 17, of Fort Wayne, died in the Nov. 2 crash in the 9100 Block of Wayne Trace.

Five others were hurt.

According to a sheriff’s department spokesperson at the time, a witness said two vehicles appeared to be racing down Wayne Trace. The cars went around a curve, and a box truck struck one of the cars that had six passengers inside.

The car flipped and went into a ditch.
