FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Fort Wayne’s Children Zoo has lost one of their furry friends.
The Zoo posted on Facebook with the sad news that Reilly, their male honey badger, passed away earlier this week. Reilly was a whopping 20 years old, an age that the zoo says is considered old for his species.
The honey badger suffered from arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat), which the zoo says may have contributed to his death. But the ultimate cause of Reilly’s death is still unknown.
"He was a longtime favorite among staff and guests alike because of his personality, and he will be dearly missed. Thank you to Reilly’s wonderful animal care team who helped give him a long and healthy life, and to all of the guests who loved him as much as we did," the zoo said in their post.
