No one was too surprised when the TinCaps and Padres announced their plans to extend their minor league affiliation contract on Friday.
Fort Wayne and San Diego agreed to a new deal this week that will extend their partnership through 2020.
Despite being over 2000 miles apart from one another, the Padres know the TinCaps have what it takes to mold their top prospects into future big league stars because of Parkview Field’s world class facilities.
"We talk about it all the time that the game is about people and any business is about people," said Padres General Manager AJ Preller. "Our staff and the Fort Wayne staff here have connected a lot in the last few years so we’re excited to keep it going."
The Padres have been connected to Fort Wayne since 1995.
