Owner of Fort Wayne dealership, friend of George H. W. Bush shares memories

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Fort Wayne businessman Tom Kelley formed a friendship he’ll never forget though a shared passion: golf.

Kelley says he was planning to play a game of golf in Washington D.C. with former Vice President Dan Quayle when the VP introduced him to former president George H. W. Bush.

After spending some time on the green, Kelley says they pair became lifelong friends.

After leaving office, Kelley says he sold more than 25 vehicles to the Bush family.

“He was a statesman and a very honorable person. He did what was right for the United States of America,” Kelley said.

George H. W. Bush died Friday. He was 94.
